Redirect chain checker

Follow the route from the link you share to the page visitors reach. See redirect hops, response codes and the final URL in one readable trace.

Run a free focused check

No account or email required. Check one public URL at a time.

What this tool inspects

The checker makes public GET requests, follows supported HTTP redirects and lists each URL, status and Location header. It reports the final destination and flags chains with more than one redirect for review. It also calls out an insecure destination, a destination error and temporary redirect statuses that need context.

How to read the result

One redirect can be a sensible way to normalize an old link or HTTP address. Several sequential changes may be an opportunity to simplify rules and update links you control. A temporary status is not automatically wrong: sign-in, forms and routing can use it intentionally. Always confirm the destination serves the intended visitor need before optimizing hop count.

Where a manual check still matters

The trace follows at most five redirects. It does not execute JavaScript, follow meta refresh or reproduce cookies, geography and browser state. Redirect loops and unsupported targets return an error. Test important interactive journeys in a browser as well. The final response shown is evidence from this request, not a guarantee of behavior for every visitor.

Keep useful evidence

Successful checks save a snapshot to your browser workspace. Run the same tool on the same final URL again to compare check statuses with the prior saved result. Export CSV or JSON to keep a file, or print the result as a PDF. Browser data stays on this device and does not run automatic scans.

Common questions

Should every redirect be permanent?

No. Choose the status that represents the intended move. A lasting page move and a temporary routing or form decision have different needs.

Is this a complete website audit?

This tool answers one focused question on a bounded public response. The launch audit combines 40 checks, with a free top-three preview and paid full reports.

Does this change my website?

No. These checks fetch public information and return evidence. You decide whether to change the site and verify the result after deployment.
